Chapter 5

I’m slowly creating some integrity within the “cab”.  I tack-welded the doors in place with close to correct spacing so that they will open and shut with hinges in the front.  These will be 37′ Stude external type or similar (still looking for some). The stock C-cab type latches will be used in back.  I’ll remove the locks and door handles on the outside at some point.  I flipped the body over and made templates for plates to strengthen the  bottom of the cab. Then I transferred the patterns to a piece of steel I cut off the lower back of the cab.  It had a pressed channel in it which I have incorporated into the plate design.  Then came a lot of fine welding and grinding.  As a first go-around (no bondo or anything yet) it came together pretty well .  Double click to enlarge pics.
